Tile adhesives are thin bed mortars for adhering ceramic wall or floor tiles to smooth or level surfaces by the thin bed method. The adhesive is applied or combed on evenly with a smoothing trowel or tile adhesive comb. The details, in particular test methods and classification, are contained in the respective codes and standards.
Tile adhesives require a high water retention capability to cope with the various application methods, layer thickness and surfaces to be tiled. The appropriate WalocelŪ M products have a crucial beneficial effect on the workability of tile adhesives, their water retention and the ultimate tile adhesion. Various methyl cellulose grades are suitable, depending on the tile adhesive requirements. The quantities of additive required vary greatly from region to region.
